February is a busy month

February will be a busy month for the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team. Although the weather isn't cooperating in Mitchell and other portions of the country, baseball season is just around the corner. The Tigers will open play Friday, February 25 in Marshall, Missouri. The Tigers are scheduled to play Missouri Valley in a four game set over the three-day weekend. The following week, the Tigers will be spending 11 days in Phoenix, AZ. The weather in Phoenix this week calls for sunny skies with highs near 70 degrees each day. Needless to say, we are getting excited for our southern trip.

In the meantime, we will continue to practice indoors six days a week with strength and conditioning workouts three mornings a week. Since our Metrodome trips in February were cancelled, we will find off days to give our players some rest, relaxation and study time. We are also hosting camps on the weekend. Our hitting and defense camp continues to be popular, while the one-day elementary camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 12.

Our baseball banquet with Rollie Fingers and Senator McGovern will be held Saturday, February 19 at 7 p.m. Our players are required to sell tickets for the event. Please support them and the once-in-a-lifetime event to see two great speakers.

As the excitement of the season grows, we continue to improve as a team, both on and off the field. We hope to be an exciting team to watch this spring. We thank you for your support and hope to see you at the field.
